Basketball Recap: St. Petersburg Catholic Piles Up the Points Against Patel

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Petersburg Catholic). They claimed a resounding 64-26 victory over the Patel Trailblazers. The Barons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season.

St. Petersburg Catholic was led to victory by Savannah Brown and Kinsley Spoor. Brown went 5 of 11 on her way to 16 points and five steals, while Spoor posted eight points along with 17 rebounds and five blocks. Spoor is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Thompson, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points and eight rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Patel lost on Thursday, don't look at Sophia Rice. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 17 on her way to 17 points. The dominant performance gave Rice a new career-high in points.

St. Petersburg Catholic pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.2 points per game. As for Patel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
