The Harlan Hawks will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Sotomayor WILDCATS at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. One thing working in Harlan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
Even though Stevens scored an imposing 80 points on Thursday, Harlan still came out on top. Harlan had just enough and edged Stevens out 83-80. Given Harlan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Stevens is ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Jay scored an imposing 59 points on Thursday, Sotomayor still came out on top. Sotomayor managed a 64-59 win over Jay. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sotomayor.
Harlan's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Sotomayor, their win ended a 16-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 9-11.
