The Valley Christian Trojans came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Gilbert Christian 82-68. Given Valley Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Gilbert Christian is ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Luke Shaw, who scored 29 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Grier, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Valley Christian pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.33 points. As for Gilbert Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Christian will take on American Leadership Academy - Anthem South at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. American Leadership Academy - Anthem South is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Gilbert Christian, they will play host again and welcome Coolidge, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Coolidge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Friday.
