Greeley Central has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Greeley West Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Greeley Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Greeley Central made off with a 43-42 victory over the Trojans. The win was just what Greeley Central needed coming off of a 79-16 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Madison Sepeda, who scored 24 points along with six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Mayra Flores was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Greeley West's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt a 60-18 defeat at the hands of Windsor. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Greeley West in their matchups with the Wizards: they've now lost eight in a row.
Greeley Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Greeley West, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Greeley Central beat the Spartans 40-30 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greeley Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
