Football Recap: Metuchen Piles Up the Points Against J.P. Stevens

Metuchen got themselves on the board against J.P. Stevens on Friday, but J.P. Stevens never followed suit. They took their game with ease, bagging a 53-0 win over the Hawks. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' most dominant victory of the season.

Cameron Hayes-Durina went supernova, throwing for 316 yards and six touchdowns while completing 87% of his passes, and also rushing for 56 yards. What's more, he racked up 148.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Justus Leitner was in the mix as well, providing Metuchen with two TDs.

Metuchen didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Gio Tan, Dennis Toth, Leitner, and Mateo Tan picked up one apiece.

Metuchen's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-4. As for J.P. Stevens, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Metuchen will face off against Brearley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for J.P. Stevens, they will challenge Roselle Park at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
