The Frankton Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Wabash Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Frankton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
Frankton unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 62-40 walloping at the hands of Hamilton Heights. Frankton has struggled against the Huskies recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Joey Wright, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Austin Nunley, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though Wabash has not done well against the Kings recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Wabash came out on top against the Kings by a score of 57-44. Given Wabash's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Kings are ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wabash's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izaak Wright, who scored 16 points along with five blocks. Wright hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. Trevor Daughtry was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Frankton's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6. As for Wabash, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Frankton have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wabash struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Frankton came out on top in a nail-biter against the Apaches in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, sneaking past 57-54. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Wabash's Trenton Daughtry, who scored 25 points along with four steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Frankton to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
