Overton and Union Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will head out to challenge the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Overton will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
On Saturday, Overton made easy work of Ore City and carried off a 13-4 win. Considering the Mustangs have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kelsey Vaught made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Overton let Kasha Williams and Bryleigh Nelson run wild. Williams scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Nelson scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sarah Emery, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Union Grove's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Harleton on Saturday. The Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 10-8.
Olivia Dabreu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Aubrie Coulter and Jamie Webb did most of the damage at the plate: Coulter scored two runs while going 2-for-5, while Webb scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Mullican, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Overton's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Union Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Overton beat Union Grove 12-9 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
