Grace Luck was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Madilyn Nevitt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Tri-County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 18 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South Newton scored first but ultimately less than North Newton in their contest on Tuesday. They fell 7-3 to the Spartans. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Hannah Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits.
Tri-County's record now sits at 18-4. As for South Newton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Tri-County got the 'W' when the teams last played on May 2nd against South Newton by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
