Softball Recap: Milford Gets the Win

Milford is still undefeated this season after their contest against Kennett on Friday, but Kennett came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Spartans narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Eagles 3-1. While the Spartans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Livi Mazzeo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Milford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arabelle Danforth, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Milford's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Kennett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Milford is set to take on their familiar foe Hollis-Brookline at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Kennett will square off against rival Laconia at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
