Riverdale has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the West Jefferson Buccaneers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverdale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Riverdale can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Monday. They blew past John Ehret, posting a 41-12 victory at home. Given Riverdale's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while John Ehret is ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverdale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maryah Joseph, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Mazie Parmley, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Jefferson had to endure a 17-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They welcomed the New Year with a 16-12 win over Kennedy. The win was just what West Jefferson needed coming off of a 33-12 defeat in their prior matchup.
Riverdale's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. As for West Jefferson, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-14.
Riverdale took a serious blow against West Jefferson in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 73-21. Can Riverdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
