Timberline extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 10-9. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Borah Lions. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Timberline let Stanley Jensen and Isaac Mills run wild. Jensen went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Mills went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The dominant performance also gave Jensen a new career-high in RBI (two).
Timberline lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
As for Borah, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 24th.
On Borah's side, Jack Meimann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. The Lions are 2-1 when Meimann posts eight or more strikeouts, but 1-16 otherwise.
At the plate, Julian Almeida was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Timberline will take on rival Eagle at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Borah is set to challenge their familiar foe Capital at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
