The Mountain View Bruins posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Payson and snuck past 55-53. For Mountain View, this counts as revenge for the 80-49 loss Payson walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2019.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Coleman Pearson, who scored 17 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Pearson grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Hunter Kaopua, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Payson, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will face off against Provo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Provo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Payson, they will head out on the road to square off against Uintah at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Uintah is ranked 81st, while Payson is ranked 74th).
