The Chapman Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 24 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 55-24 win over Chesnee on the road. Given Chapman's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Chesnee is ranked 266th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Chapman to victory were Krislyn Wilder and Annastyn Smith. Wilder scored 15 points, while Smith scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Smith pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Ivey, who scored six points along with three steals.
Chesnee lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Pearl Holloway, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds. Katie Faith Watson was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Chapman is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Chesnee, they bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Chapman will head out on the road to face off against Walhalla at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Walhalla focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for Chesnee, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Blue Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th.
