Mountain View is 0-10 against Arroyo since May of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Mountain View came up short against Rosemead and fell 17-12.
Meanwhile, Arroyo had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 23-3 margin over the Vikings. Considering the Knights have won nine contests by more than 12 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Emily Rubalcava made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Rubalcava was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Raylene Inostroz was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ayleen Bravo, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Arroyo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in 13 consecutive games.
Arroyo's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.
