The Dieterich Movin Maroons lost against the Altamont Indians back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Dieterich was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Altamont. While losing is never fun, Dieterich can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Altamont is ranked 87th).
Several Movin Maroons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miley Britton, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Britton hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Ruby Westendorf was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Dieterich's loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Altamont, the victory was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dieterich will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Sandoval at 6:15 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Altamont, they will face off against Teutopolis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Teutopolis is on a five-game streak of home wins, Altamont a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
