The Homer Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Jonesville Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Homer came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Leslie, falling 7-1.
Meanwhile, Jonesville made easy work of Camden-Frontier on Wednesday and carried off a 12-4 victory. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.
Talon Titus made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Drew Bradley and Devan Herendeen did most of the damage at the plate: Bradley went 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base, while Herendeen went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Herendeen has become a key player for Jonesville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Harper Griffiths was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Jonesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Jonesville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Homer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Homer came out on top in a nail-biter against Jonesville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
