Alisal is 9-1 against the Spartans since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Alisal Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Seaside Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Alisal has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 755 points over their last 11 matches.
After soaring to a 37-point victory in their last game, Alisal came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell just short of Marina by a score of 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite their loss, Alisal saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Adrian Cardenas, who scored six points along with 13 assists and eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Cardenas has been hot recently, having posted eight or more assists the last four times he's played. Kike Jacinto was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Seaside scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They walked away with a 73-66 victory over St. Francis. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Seaside.
Alisal's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. As for Seaside, their win bumped their record up to 11-14.
Alisal was able to grind out a solid victory over the Spartans in their previous matchup back in January, winning 69-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alisal since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
