With a playoff game on the line, the Westwood Cardinals rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against Rutherford by a score of 20-7. The victory was just business as usual for Westwood, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Westwood had a senior duo take command as Joe Klein picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Robbie Carcich threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Westwood's defense and their five sacks. Luke Biello was especially locked on to Rutherford's QB and sacked him twice.
Westwood pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.54 points. As for Rutherford, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1.
Westwood will square off against Bernards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bernards has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 261 points over their last six games. Rutherford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
