The Wirt County Tigers will be playing at home against the South Harrison Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Wirt County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Friday, Wirt County didn't have too much trouble with Gilmer County on the road as they won 68-52.
Wirt County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylan Dawson, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Dawson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Bevel, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, South Harrison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their rough 72-47 defeat to Frankfort might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat South Harrison has suffered since December 8, 2023.
Wirt County's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for South Harrison, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-3 record last season and are now at 2-8.
