It was a good run, but The Fayette Academy Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by First Assembly Christian 58-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
When it comes to explaining why Fayette Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Corbin Bowling. Despite the final result, he rushed for 147 yards on only 13 carries, and also threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Morris, who gained 154 total yards and two touchdowns.
Brian Shields continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for First Assembly Christian, rushing for 248 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 14.6 yards per carry. Briceton Miller was another key contributor, rushing for 105 yards on only eight carries.
Fayette Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for First Assembly Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fayette Academy will take on Harding Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harding Academy is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for First Assembly Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Tipton-Rosemark Academy at 7:00 p.m.
