Even though McCutcheon has not done well against Lafayette Central Catholic recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. McCutcheon snuck past Lafayette Central Catholic with a 48-42 win.
McCutcheon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chloe Finney out in front who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The match was Finney's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Graves, who scored 19 points along with 3 steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Kokomo's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 48-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Western. While losing is never fun, Kokomo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Western is ranked 26th).
The losing side was boosted by Aijia Elliott, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. She scored a full 28.2% of Kokomo's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Regan McClain was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
McCutcheon has yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 7-2 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Kokomo, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: McCutcheon have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.4 rebounds per game.
