Baseball Recap: Metamora Has No Trouble Against Orion

Metamora had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Orion on Monday. Metamora put the hurt on Orion with a sharp 9-1 victory. The Redbirds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ben Cronkite looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Drew Lueddecke was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Stephen Petri, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double.

The win got Metamora back to even at 2-2. As for Orion, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Metamora will square off against Galesburg at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Galesburg will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Orion, they will be playing at home against East Moline United at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Moline United has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.5 runs per game on average), something Orion will no doubt try to take advantage of.
