If The Desert Vista Thunder were feeling good off their 42-0 takedown of the Ironwood Eagles last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Desert Vista was outmatched by Corona del Sol at home and fell 45-14. Desert Vista lost against Corona del Sol in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-48 score last time.
Among those leading the charge was Connor Ackerley, who threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Zuri Glenn, who picked up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Desert Vista's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.0 points per game. As for Corona del Sol, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert Vista will take on Mountain Pointe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Corona del Sol, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Casteel at 7:00 p.m. Casteel is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
