The McClintock Chargers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 47-29 win over South Mountain. That's another feather in the cap for McClintock, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
McClintock's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Niya Gamble, who scored 15 points. Gamble continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Malani Reynoso was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
McClintock pushed their record up to 13-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for South Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McClintock won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Central at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for South Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully North Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Friday.
