They took a 38-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greenfield/Northwestern. Southwestern has not had much luck with Greenfield/Northwestern recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Southwestern's loss came despite strong showings from Ian Brantley and Rocky Darr. Brantley dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Darr scored 11 points. That was a full 48.3% of Southwestern's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Greenfield/Northwestern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Talon Albrecht led the charge by scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Albrecht hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Wyatt Stuart was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals.
Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season.
Southwestern won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Vandalia at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Southwestern is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they will square off against Lewistown at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Greenfield/Northwestern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday.
