Muncie Burris hasn't had much luck against Winchester Community recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Owls will look to defend their home field against the Golden Falcons at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Muncie Burris is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Eastern Hancock, falling 21-11. Even if the Owls couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Meanwhile, Winchester Community entered their tilt with Tri on Monday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Titans 14-4. Considering the Golden Falcons have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Bryce Tippett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Landen Porfidio and Aidan Weatherhead did most of the damage at the plate: Porfidio went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Weatherhead went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. That home run was Porfidio's first of the season. Dravin Whitehead was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Winchester Community pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Muncie Burris, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Muncie Burris suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Winchester Community in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Owls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
