The Windsor Academy Knights suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Gatewood by a score of 79-76. Windsor Academy has not had much luck with Gatewood recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, Windsor Academy still got an impressive performance from Reed Barr, who scored 30 points along with six rebounds. Barr hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Landen Locke was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gatewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matt Allen, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Allen has scored at least a third of Gatewood's points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Keiser, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds.
Windsor Academy bumped their record down to 6-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Gatewood, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Windsor Academy will head out on the road to challenge Twiggs Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Twiggs Academy is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Gatewood, Gatewood and Westfield School will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Westfield School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 496th, while Gatewood is ranked 234th).
