The Jarrell Cougars lost against the Burnet Bulldogs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Jarrell fell 56-46 to Burnet. While losing is never fun, Jarrell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Burnet is ranked 138th).
Despite the loss, Jarrell saw an underclassman step up: Aniya Taylor scored 21 points. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 20 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaydyn Edwards, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Jarrell's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Burnet, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 22-7.
Jarrell will be playing in front of their home fans against Lampasas at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lampasas and Jarrell are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Burnet, they will head out on the road to face off against Lago Vista at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Lago Vista is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
