Grant is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Linden is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Grant Pacers will take on the Linden Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grant knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Linden likes a good challenge.
Grant put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Laguna Creek 48-7 on the road. With Grant ahead 28-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Luke Alexander and Wayshawn Parker were among the main playmakers for Grant as the former threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes and the latter rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Parker really tore up the turf during one magnificent 91-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Lopa , who picked up 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Laguna Creek to a paltry 187 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Grant's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out six times before it was all said and done. In that department, Jeremiah Tuiileila was the leader with three sacks.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Linden rose to the challenge on Friday. They didn't even let Golden Valley onto the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Linden was the (much) better team in the second half.
Their wins bumped Grant to 8-2 and Linden to 9-2.
