The Archbishop Mitty Monarchs lost against the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Archbishop Mitty fell 28-21 to St. Ignatius College Preparatory. Archbishop Mitty has struggled against St. Ignatius College Preparatory recently, as their match on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caden Allard, who picked up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Allard's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Campagna, who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns.
St. Ignatius College Preparatory's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarious Hogan, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Pierce St. geme did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Archbishop Mitty's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely St. Ignatius College Preparatory, Archbishop Riordan, and Saint Francis. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Archbishop Mitty will be playing at home against Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Christian is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they will head out on the road to face off against Serra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Serra comes in on nine and St. Ignatius College Preparatory on three.
