Marshwood hasn't had much luck against Bonny Eagle recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Hawks will head out to face off against the Scots at 4:30 p.m. Marshwood will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Marshwood managed to slip by Thornton Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks came up short against the Trojans on Tuesday, falling 19-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hawks have suffered against the Trojans since April 28, 2017.
Lilly Gennaro was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zoe Carnes, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Bonny Eagle hadn't done well against Noble recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Scots were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Scots, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Neveah Hagerman made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Catherine Lopresti and Reese Bryant did most of the damage at the plate: Lopresti went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Bryant went 3-for-4 with three runs. Leah Curtis also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Bonny Eagle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Marshwood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Bonny Eagle, their record now sits at 6-4.
Marshwood couldn't quite finish off Bonny Eagle in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
