Hailey Toothaker was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Danika Lopeparo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Leesburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 13.8.
Leesburg now has a winning record of 9-8. As for First Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. First Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. However, it's not like Leesburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
