The McCollum Cowboys's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Winn. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Winn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jovan Jimenez, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Jimenez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last eight games he's played. David Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
McCollum's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Winn, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-15 record this season.
McCollum will head out on the road to take on the Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully the Cowboys likes a good challenge. As for Winn, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. Southside is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
