Westwood Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Divine Savior Academy Sharks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Westwood Christian didn't have too much trouble with Coral Shores at home as they won 76-58. Given Westwood Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Coral Shores is ranked 546th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westwood Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Vilmenay, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two steals. William Nadaskay was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven steals and six assists.
Meanwhile, Divine Savior Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mater Academy Charter.
Westwood Christian pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.6 points per game. As for Divine Savior Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
