The Barnwell Warhorses will head out on the road to challenge the Woodland Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Barnwell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Woodland is ranked 51st).
Last Tuesday, Barnwell was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 35-34 to Ridgeland-Hardeeville. Barnwell has struggled against Ridgeland-Hardeeville recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Barnwell saw an underclassman step up: Vashahd Scofield scored 16 points. Jayden Pickney was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Woodland pushed their score all the way to 55 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Porter-Gaud at home by a decisive 74-55 margin.
Barnwell has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Woodland, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.
Barnwell might still be hurting after the 69-49 defeat they got from Woodland when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Barnwell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
