Basketball Recap: Scotland's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Union Pines came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Scotland, but Dajuan Gibson wouldn't allow it. The Scotland Fighting Scots secured a 65-59 W over the Union Pines Vikings on Friday thanks in part to Gibson, who went 9 for 19 on his way to 27 points along with seven boards and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Marquis McNeill, who posted six points. What's more, he also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Union Pines lost, don't look at Joe Fuerch. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 12 en route to 13 points. Kolby Scruton was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 rebounds.

With the win, Scotland broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-12. As for Union Pines, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Scotland will head out on the road to challenge Purnell Swett at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Purnell Swett is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Union Pines, they will be playing at home against Richmond at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Pines is on a three-game streak of home wins, Richmond a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
