Porter-Gaud is 9-1 against the Panthers since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Porter-Gaud Cyclones will be playing at home against the Pinewood Prep Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Porter-Gaud will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Porter-Gaud gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 69-48 margin over Wilson Hall.
Meanwhile, Pinewood Prep strolled past the Cavaliers with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 56-39. Given Pinewood Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Cavaliers are ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinewood Prep's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jayden Alexander, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals, and Michael Jones, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Alexander hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Tripp Eidson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Porter-Gaud is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Pinewood Prep, their win bumped their record up to 20-9.
Porter-Gaud strolled past the Panthers in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 46-31. Does Porter-Gaud have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
