On Tuesday, the Nitro Wildcats faced the Chapmanville Regional Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Nitro came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 70-57. The victory was nothing new for Nitro as they're now sitting on three straight.
Nitro found their leader in underclassman Timmy Lovejoy, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lovejoy has scored all season. Ty Stephens was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Nitro pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Chapmanville Regional, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nitro will take on the Big Blacks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Point Pleasant is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Chapmanville Regional, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Miners at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Mingo Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps West Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Tigers are ranked 15th).
