The Jeannette Jayhawks will take on the Brentwood Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jeannette is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
While Jeannette's victory against Mapletown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Jayhawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Maples 5-3.

Amari Thomas and Jayden Kennedy were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Thomas pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Kennedy struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Jeannette: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise. At bat, Thomas got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Kennedy went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evyn Yargeau, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Brentwood fell victim to Apollo Ridge and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered since April 15, 2024.
Jeannette's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Brentwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Everything went Jeannette's way against Brentwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Jeannette made off with an 11-3 victory. Do the Jayhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
