The Madison Trojans will take on the Ida Bluestreaks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Monday, Madison was able to grind out a solid victory over Sand Creek, taking the game 10-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
The team relied heavily on Mya Solis, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Jazlyn Zaszczurynski was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Ida never let their opponents score on Saturday. They put the hurt on Napoleon with a sharp 12-0 win. With that victory, the Bluestreaks brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Alex Haws was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Haws was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.
In other batting news, Ida got a massive performance out of Madi McCain, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was McCain's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Schrader, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Ida was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Napoleon only posted a batting average of .136.
Madison's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Ida, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.
Ida's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Madison has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Ida, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Madison's sizable advantage in that area, the Bluestreaks will need to find a way to close that gap.
