Anthony Braoudakis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Westminster Christian is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise. Braoudakis was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Ethan Nagler was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Elias Vaagen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Westminster Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Alden-Hebron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Winnebago, falling 15-0.
Alden-Hebron's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Westminster Christian, their record now sits at 7-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Westminster Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Alden-Hebron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Westminster Christian's way against Alden-Hebron in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Westminster Christian made off with a 16-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
