Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Castle View Sabercats, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Mountain Vista 52-20 on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Castle View in their matchups with Mountain Vista: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Castle View still got an impressive performance from Sam Harry, who picked up 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Leading Mountain Vista to victory were Austyn Modrzewski and Jack Blais. Modrzewski threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, while Blais rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Blais was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Jakhai Mack made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Castle View bumped their record down to 8-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Mountain Vista, Rock Canyon, and Mountain Vista. As for Mountain Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Castle View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mountain Vista will square off against Cherry Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cherry Creek is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
