After a string of ten wins, Owen's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madison Patriots. The Warhorses were probably out for revenge after losing 59-51 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Several Warhorses players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Asante Martin, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Martin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jack Wesley Burk was another key player, going 7 for 16 en route to 22 points and six boards.
Madison was led to victory by Aedan Allison and Jason Eighmey. Allison went 6 of 7 on his way to 22 points, while Eighmey dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. What's more, Eighmey also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Gault, who posted 13 points and five boards.
Owen's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Madison, their record now sits at 7-8.
Owen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 95-74 win against Draughn on the 21st. Madison has also already played their next game, a 64-61 victory against Mitchell on the 21st.
