Arroyo Grande is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Ventura is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will challenge the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Arroyo Grande is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bakersfield, sneaking past 23-20. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly three points.
It was another big night for Caleb Clark, who picked up 131 receiving yards and two scores, and also rushed for 51 yards. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending two passes.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Dustin Reed: he added nine points with three field goals and another two kicking extra points.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ventura). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy 63-28. Considering the Cougars have won seven contests by more than 27 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Ventura's win came from a few key players Arroyo Grande will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was James Watson, who rushed for 248 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 118.8 rushing yards per game. Derek Garcia was another major influence, as he rushed for 46 yards and ran in a TD.
Ventura was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 310 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
One reason for the win was Ventura's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for ten sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Tristan Phillips and Kevin Vazquez, who racked up eight sacks between them. Phillips is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last ten games he's played.
Arroyo Grande's record now sits at 10-4. As for Ventura, their record is now 12-2.
