The Nanakuli Golden Hawks will square off against the Kalaheo Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Nanakuli hasn't scored more than a single run for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Nanakuli fell victim to Waipahu and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Marauders, falling 11-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Golden Hawks have suffered against the Marauders since April 6, 2019.
Nanakuli saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ezell Aweau, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Aweau also got a hit, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Kalaheo made easy work of McKinley on Saturday and carried off an 11-1 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Cruz Antonelis and Caleb James made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Antonelis struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, James pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. At bat, Antonelis went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double, while James went 1-for-2 with three runs. Kalaheo is undefeated when James posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex O'Brien, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Tanner Young, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Kalaheo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Kalaheo's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Nanakuli, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
