The Walla Walla Blue Devils were the 76-72 winner over the Chiawana Riverhawks when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Walla Walla lost to the Riverhawks at home by a decisive 66-51 margin on Tuesday. Walla Walla has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Walla Walla's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cami Martin, who scored 19 points along with four steals, and Miriam Hutchens who scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Jailyn Davenport, who scored seven points.
Kaia Foster continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chiawana, shooting 4-for-5 from deep and dropping a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Foster is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Medelez, who scored 11 points.
Walla Walla's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Chiawana, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
Walla Walla will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Chiawana, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Falcons at 5:45 p.m. Hanford has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
