The Adams City Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Gateway Olympians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Adams City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Adams City is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Skyview on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 1-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Christian Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Adams City is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Gateway, as they earned their first away victory of the season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Aurora Central a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Olympians haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Heber Almeida made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Almeida was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Rubio, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colt Wenzel, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Gateway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aurora Central only managed two.
The victory got Gateway back to even at 3-3. As for Adams City, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Adams City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gateway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Adams City couldn't quite finish off Gateway when the teams last played back in May of 2025 and fell 10-8. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
