Granite City hasn't had much luck against Highland recently, but that could start to change  on Thursday. Granite City will head out to  challenge Highland  at 4:30  p.m. Highland took a loss in their last  match and will be looking to turn the tables on Granite City, who comes in off a win.
Granite City took a ten-run  defeat the last time they faced off against O'Fallon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Granite City came out on top in a nail-biter against O'Fallon on Thursday, sneaking past  9-7. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by  exactly two  runs.
 Christine Myers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and five unearned) runs off   eight  hits (and only one walk). Myers was also solid in the batter's box,  getting on base  in two of her three plate appearances with two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Alexis Ruiz was a standout: she scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those  two  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Milyn Roehr, who  went 2-for-3 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  RBI.
 Granite City  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as O'Fallon only posted  an  OBP of  .303.
Meanwhile, Highland is still winless after their  contest against Belleville East  on Wednesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two  runs away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lancers.
  Holly Sexton was cooking despite her team's loss,   going a perfect 3-for-3 with two  doubles.
 Granite City has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7  runs this season. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
 Granite City came up short against Highland in their previous meeting  back in March of 2024, falling  9-5. Can Granite City avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
