Community Christian hasn't had much luck against Heritage Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. On Thursday, Community Christian took their contest with ease, bagging a 54-6 victory over Non Varsity Opponent. The Warriors haven't had any issues with Non Varsity Opponent recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Hayden Yelverton was his usual excellent self, rushing for 87 yards and a pair of TDs. River Bryan was another key player, picking up 65 receiving yards and two scores.
Community Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Parker Dehls picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Community Christian, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dehls, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matchups, Heritage Christian Academy finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were beaten by Harvest Christian Academy 66-13. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
Community Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Heritage Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Community Christian was dealt a bruising 69-24 defeat at the hands of Heritage Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022.
