Baseball Recap: Montgomery Catholic Has No Trouble Against LAMP

Montgomery Catholic had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the LAMP Golden Tigers on Thursday as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Knights not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 5th.

Ethan Levanda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Montgomery Catholic is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-13-1 otherwise. Levanda was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Montgomery Catholic let Gregory Rauch and Gavin Phelan run wild. Rauch scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Phelan scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Rauch a new career-high in RBI (three). Parks Hickman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Montgomery Catholic's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 9-14-1. As for LAMP, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12.

Montgomery Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
